Nichloas Genes, MD, PhD
Nicholas Genes is a physician and informatics fellow in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, where he divides his time between patient care, teaching, and researching the impact of NYCLIX, the city's new health information exchange. He is also chair of the Society of Academic Emergency Medicine's Social Media committee, where he is leading the effort to disseminate emergency medicine news and research developments through social media channels.

Genes discovered the nascent world of medical blogging in 2003, and soon founded Grand Rounds, a weekly rotating collection of high-quality healthcare writing from independent online bloggers. He has written on the subjects of patient care, media, technology and advertising in such publications as the Boston Globe, Providence Journal, Emergency Physicians Monthly, and Medscape/WebMD.
